Caring for your new Tattoo

  • Old Fashioned Cling Film

Remove the dressing approximately 1-2 hours after getting tattooed and wash gently with warm, soapy waterand pat dry with a clean disposable towel or allow to air dry.

24 hours after the appointment begin to apply suitable tattoo aftercare. i have included a link to a fantastic UK company who specialize in tattoo aftercare below.

Please DO NOT use Bepanthen, E45, Savlon or any thick ‘Nappy Cream’ more suited to babies as this does not allow the skin to breathe properly.

Please DO NOT pick or scratch the tattoo during the healing process, This may result in you losing ink from the tattoo and/ or scarring the skin.

I will NOT touch up your tattoo if you have not followed this advise.

Whilst the tattoo is healing please do not soak in baths, go swimming, use tanning beds, saunas or hot tubs etc. As this may also effect the healing of your tattoo.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • DERMA WRAP - SECOND SKIN

If you are fortunate to not have an allergic reaction to adhesive bandage , chances are I’ve covered your tattoo in a sticky see through layer.

This has many names but we tend to call it second skin.

Please leave this dressing on for at least 3-4 days. Providing there is a water-proof seal all around the tattoo it will stay clean underneath.

The tattoo will continue to weep under the dressing, giving the tattoo a gunky, blurred look.

    This is perfectly normal.

The ‘gunk’ is what normally dries to be a scab similar to when you graze your skin.

If the dressing starts to peal away, leak or irritate the skin (a reaction to the adhesive) then gently remove the dressing and start the aftercare process mentioned in the other column.

After 4 days, remove the dressing using warm water to help peel it away from the skin, then continue to apply a simple moisterizer once a day to prevent the skin feeling dry.
